small aperture packs

Small aperture emergency packs cover both Fluorescent and low voltage Tungsten Halogen light sources. A small aperture pack is necessitated when the installation does not provide for a normal emergency lighting self contained solution due to space limitations i.e. small void depths and typical small ceiling cut outs in rendered ceilings associated with low voltage downlights.

Normally a small aperture pack will be made up of two parts. The first part comprising the charger board, changeover relay and inverter if required and the second part comprising the batteries.

The battery capacity required to drive a low voltage lamp in emergency operation means that it is not always possible to deliver 100% output associated with conventional solutions. To expand, Mell can provide a 12V pack suitable for 88mm cut outs to power 20W Tungsten Halogen lamps at full output but for a larger 50W lamp, the increased capacity means that Mell will provide a pack for the same cut out albeit from 6Vdc, thereby giving approximately 13-15% output. However this still delivers a substantial lux level compared with some Fluorescent wattages.

The development of the Mell SH pack means that whatever the wattage or installation, we can provide a custom built, high quality solution.
